  2. Carpe Diem – I did a review on this short visual novel a while back when I was suffering from pretty severe insomnia. Check it out if you want.
  3. Cinderella Phenomenon
  4. Crimson Rafflesia
  5. Doki Doki Literature Club – This VN is NSFW and basically a meme at this point, but I thought I’d mention it still. Go into it blind.
  6. Homeward – This VN has two versions: A SFW version with only one route and an NSFW version with all the story and routes in it.
  7. Juniper’s Knot – A NSFW kinetic novel about a demon and a young boy who encounters it. It’s NSFW due to vivid mentions of violence, physical and sexual.
  8. Katawa Shoujo – The story of this VN is about a boy (the main character) who must go to a school for the disabled after discovering he has heart issues. It’s technically NSFW, but you can turn that off in the settings.
  9. Our Life: Beginnings and Always – I’m fairly certain this is the complete release. This seems like a long, interesting VN about friendship (and perhaps romance?)
  10. Tailor Tales – Part visual novel, part clothing design game.

RPG Games

  1. Elona+
  2. The Elder Scrolls: Arena – The first game in the Elder Scrolls series.
  3. The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall – The second game in the Elder Scrolls series.
  4. Genshin Impact – This is a popular, fun game. It’s free to play but supported by an optional gacha system to get certain new characters.
  5. Path of Exile – This is a game very similar to Diablo in terms of gameplay and theming, but it’s also completely free.

MOBAs

  1. Dota 2

MMORPGs

  1. Guild Wars 2 – The base game for Guild Wars 2 is free and quite fun.
  2. Mabinogi – A casual, anime-style MMORPG. There are quite a few events and a bunch of skills, monsters to fight, quests, etc.
  3. Maplestory – A casual, platforming MMORPG. There tend to be quite a few events and a bunch of monsters to fight as well as quests. 
  4. Old School Runescape – Old School Runescape (OSRS) has two types of gameplay: F2P (Free to Play) and P2P (Pay to Play). If you decide you want to play more than just F2P, you can get a bond with in-game gold. Or, well, a membership with real money…

  6. Second Life – This is sort of a social game, but it’s really fun. Give it a try. Tip: You don’t have to buy L$ to look nice! Just join a freebie group. Most people do this, at least while starting out!

  8. Warframe – Fight enemies in a sci-fi environment in this game.

Simulation Games

  1. Dwarf Fortress – A classic game. This is sort of a rogue-like simulation game.

Fighting Games

  1. Brawlhalla – If you want a free alternative to Super Smash Brothers and/or a similar game on PC, check out Brawlhalla. It’s also very fun!

Shooter Games

  1. Apex Legends
